Up until the late 19th century, coasters made from wool felt were used in taverns across Bavaria. They protected furniture from rings and kept falling leaves and insects out of cold pints. While paper coasters eventually replaced wool tavern coasters, the original name Bierfitzl or "beer felt", is still used by Bavarians to describe all coasters.
Merino wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight without feeling damp. The clean, minimal design of these coasters brings a refined modern accent to any home.
