Spectra is committed to designing and building heirloom quality furniture that will last many lifetimes. Using solid hardwoods from local forests and initiating innovative crafting techniques that use less energy, have less waste, and utilize only eco-friendly paints and finishes, assures a sustainable and environmentally conscious product.
All Spectra furniture is made of solid hardwoods and select veneer plywood. The solid hardwood is thoroughly air seasoned and then kiln dried to assure you of the best quality furniture. Solid wood behaves quite differently than veneers or particle board. Solid wood expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. In addition, air and sunlight naturally color the wood, turning the light cherry into a rich red/brown hue. Also, there is a great variety of grain patterns with woods. Some patterns are quite lively, others more restrained.
Spectra is a State College, Pennsylvania company that began as a hobby in a family basement workshop more than thirty-nine years ago. Currently they employ 110 craftspeople in State College, who are trained on old values that respect quality and durability, smiling a confident smile when a customer runs a hand along a newly finished piece. They know the feel of wood-to-wood joints that are as right as they can be. In fact, each employee has the right to reject any piece that just isn't good enough.
Custom made to order; allow 12-16 weeks for production. Choose from 8 finishes on solid Cherry, or Natural Walnut.
